New Pastel Vintage Boutique Restaurant: The Mail Room

This is truly one of my favourite places in the UAE yet. The Mail Room’s exterior certainly stands out in the local area. The pastel pink and gold decor is welcoming and warm, combining nicely with the living wall and natural wood framing the booth area. The mail theming which is evident throughout is quirky, charming and intriguing, adding hugely to the experience when dining here.

In every part of this boutique restaurant, you can find both vintage and contemporary items, from an antique wooden turntable to the modern day popular flamingo and a pink pineapple. Both the chairs and lower part of the walls are covered in soft blush velvet and there is a very cute neon above the booths that says ‘you got mail!’.

The background music is a collection of enjoyable golden oldies that make you feel like you’ve slightly stepped back in time. They even played a personal favourite of mine: Elvis – Can’t Help Falling In Love.

Opening only last week in Sharjah, The Mail Room offers an impeccably friendly and polite service. Their current soft opening menu is as small and neat as the venue itself, but there is no doubt still something for everyone. The burgers in particular look incredible, which comes as no surprise since their sibling brand is Burger Mail.

Personally, I swung by to check out their show-stopping dessert. The Secret Garden (60AED). And boy oh boy I was not disappointed. In fact, I would go as far to say that this makes my all-time top list of desserts. And honestly, I have had a lot of desserts.

Arriving with a mini grand piano music box tinkling a tune, this sweet treat was like no other. It had a huge tree of candy floss, decorated with a chocolate butterfly. Two delicious eclairs on chairs, which were passionfruit, gondola and rose pistachio. It was then finished with 6 scoops of ice cream, half were scrumptious vimto and half were refreshing pistachio. The flavour combinations were exciting and they vary each time so you never know which you’ll get. It was all gone pretty quickly!
